“Eski Adana’mızda sinema sefalarımız çok olurdu; bu, yaz aylarıyla da sınırlı kalmazdı üstelik. Televizyon henüz bizi esiri yapmamıştı ve annemle babamın da tek eğlence kaynağı sinemaydı.

Sun Sineması ve Sun Sineması Sokağı… Efsaneydi o zamanlar. Harika bir konumu, muhteşem bir salonu vardı. Ya da benim çocukluk düşlerimde öyleydi. Şehrin en müstesna semtinde, dünya sinemalarından en yeni filmlerle bize kollarını açardı. Her cumartesi öğleden sonra saat 2’de çocuk matinesi olurdu. Ve babam bizi cumartesi günleri götürürdü. Benim için ne büyük mutluluktu ki hem babamla beraberdim hem de en güzel çocuk filmlerini izliyordum. Sonra gençlik yıllarımın efsanesi oldu Sun Sineması Sokağı; çünkü en güzel butikler orada toplandı, çok parlak bir dönemi yaşadı o sokak. Bayılırdık gezmeye, vitrinlere bakmaya. Genelde vitrinlere bakardık; çünkü o yıllarda tüketen toplum olmamıştık henüz ve herkes bir şeyler üretirdi elinden geldiğince.” (Sevinç Kökenler)

“In our old Adana, we used to go to the cinema a lot, and this was not limited to the summer months. Television had not yet enslaved us and the cinema was the only source of entertainment for my parents.

Sun Cinema and Sun Cinema Street… It was legendary back then. It had a great location and a magnificent hall. Or so it was in my childhood dreams. In the most exclusive neighbourhood of the city, it would open its arms to us with the latest films from world cinemas. Every Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock there was a children’s matinee. And my father used to take us on Saturdays. What a happiness it was for me that I was both with my father and watching the most beautiful children’s films. Then Sun Cinema Street became the legend of my teenage years; because the most beautiful boutiques gathered there, that street experienced a very bright period. We loved walking around, looking at the shop windows. We used to look at the shop windows; because in those years we had not yet become a consuming society and everyone used to produce something as much as they could.” (Sevinç Kökenler)
